  • PLIDA | Dante Alighieri Society Sydney

Prove your competence in Italian! PLIDA (Progetto Lingua Italiana Dante Alighieri) comprehensively evaluates your Italian language proficiency across listening, reading, writing and speaking skills. It is aligned with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (A1 to C2 levels). Our highly qualified examination commission ensures professional assessment in a supportive environment. This internationally recognised qualification serves multiple purposes: it satisfies language requirements for university enrolment in Italy, supports long-term residence permit applications and facilitates the Italian citizenship application process. The certification, recognised by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, is valid for life. For those dreaming of studying in Italy, a high-quality education is remarkably affordable. Public universities typically charge between €900 and €1,000 annually, while private institutions average €3,408 per academic year. Postgraduate master’s programmes at public universities average €3,543. And for those aspiring to a European passport, Italian passport holders can travel to 192 countries visa-free (out of 227). Start your path to Italian academic and professional opportunities with PLIDA certification at Dante Alighieri Society Sydney – your gateway to Italy's rich educational and cultural landscape. PLIDA – Next session to be advised Written and Oral date: to be advised Levels available: B1 and B2 Location: Sydney CBD (exact address emailed with convocation) Exam fee: AUD 360.00 How it works Registration deadline: registration closes when all places are filled or on the official deadline communicated by PLIDA Headquarters, whichever comes first. Convocation: email with exact time about two weeks beforehand. Documents to bring: the passport or ID used at enrolment. Payment: credit/debit card (non-refundable fee unless session is cancelled by the organisers.) N.B. If you are not a first-time PLIDA candidate, please do not submit this form and contact us, as the cost may be lower. FAQ What is PLIDA and why take it? PLIDA (Progetto Lingua Italiana Dante Alighieri) is the official Italian-language certificate issued by Società Dante Alighieri and recognised by the Italian Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Education. It covers all CEFR levels (A1–C2) and is accepted for university admission, work permits and, at B1 level, for Italian citizenship. Full details are on the official site: https://plida.dante.global Do I need a preparation course? A course is not compulsory, but we offer an intensive B1-level workshop that will help you master the exact exam format and timing. Search for the PLIDA Exam Preparation course on our Learn Italian page or paste this in your browser: https://www.dantealighieri.com.au/service-page/plida-exam-preparation How will I receive my results? As soon as your marks are formally recorded by the Central Office, you will receive an automatic email inviting you to log in to your personal area on dante.global to view them. The online portal replaces individual notifications, the centre does not send results to each candidate. How do I get my certificate? As soon as your scores are officially recorded, a digital certificate appears in your Personal Area, ready for download or printing. The personal data on the certificate are exactly those provided at enrolment. If you would like a hard-copy certificate, you can request one through your exam centre: the service costs €50 plus shipping. A PLIDA certificate is issued only if you pass all four skills (Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking); partial passes do not generate a certificate. Can I ask for my score to be reviewed? No. All marks and any decisions taken by the PLIDA Headquarters are final and not open to appeal. What happens if I don’t pass? If you fail one or more of the four skills, you have 18 months from your first full-exam registration to retake only the skills you missed, while the scores you already passed remain valid. You may attempt the make-up tests as many times as you like within that window. After 18 months, all previous scores expire and you must sit the entire exam again. When you register for a partial retake, you pay only the fee for each individual skill, not the full-exam fee—the current rates are listed in the annual PLIDA circular. Italian born tutor Giorgia Pempinello will help you learn Italian. Giorgia Pempinello Tutor Book a class or lesson now... Bio Giorgia was born and raised in Milan, Italy. With a mother who teaches English and a grandmother who used to teach French, she grew up surrounded by a deep appreciation for languages. This environment sparked her passion from an early age. She attended a language high school where she studied French, Spanish, and English, and later earned a degree in Linguistic Sciences at the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Milan, graduating with highest honours with a focus on Russian and English. After completing her studies, Giorgia moved to Australia with the goal of pursuing a Master’s degree in Teaching, a path inspired by the rewarding experiences she had as a language educator in Italy. Now, Giorgia is ready to take on a new challenge: exploring the world of teaching in Australia by sharing the Italian language with Australian learners. • About Dante Alighieri Society Sydney

The Dante Alighieri Society of Sydney is the oldest Italian cultural institute in Australia, having been founded in 1896 by Dr Tommaso Fiaschi. About Us The Dante Alighieri Society Sydney is the oldest Italian cultural institute in Australia, having been founded in 1896 by Dr Tommaso Fiaschi, an eminent Italian, who migrated to Australia towards the end of the 1800s. The Sydney chapter of the Society saw the light only a few years after the first Società Dante Alighieri was founded in Rome in 1889, by a group of intellectuals led by the Nobel Prize-winning poet Giosuè Carducci. We are one of 460 societies operating worldwide, thanks to the voluntary work of people willing to promote the appreciation and understanding of the rich Italian culture, in all its forms and expressions. The main part of our mission is the organisation of cultural events together with Italian language courses, by strictly native-speaking teachers, with impeccable academic preparation. Since its foundation, the Dante Alighieri Society Sydney has operated thanks to professionals coming from different walks of life, but all with the same passion and love for Italian culture.
